Further Education and Training (FET) is at the heart of local communities providing accessible, flexible learning opportunities for everyone. FET is growing and transforming and delivers for individuals, for society, and for enterprise. In 2023, one out of every ten people in Ireland engaged with Further Education and Training and as it continues to grow and evolve, Government investment will see the delivery of new flagship FET College of the Future campuses across the country.

What is FET College of the Future?
FET College of the Future is major programme of capital investment that will modernise and upgrade Colleges of FET to provide transformational learner experiences. Sustainable campuses that will deliver modern skills development opportunities and learning spaces, and that will serve communities and learners alike.

The FET College of the Future unit at SOLAS is working in collaboration with the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science, and the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) to realise our shared, ambitious vision for the future of FET, through the management of capital investment aligned with the Transforming Learning Further Education and Training strategy.

What will it deliver?
Inclusion - Access to flexible Further Education and Training for everyone, at all ages, and all levels, in the heart of communities.

Pathways - A place to start, begin again, or continue their lifelong learning journey; providing pathways to take them as far as they want to go.

Skills - Whether looking to upskill, learn something new or get career ready, the new Colleges of FET will take learners there by providing anything from bite-sized to full-time courses from Apprenticeships, Literacy, Post Leaving Certificate options, upskilling and reskilling, community education and everything in between with state-of-the-art facilities digital learning one-to-one support, face-to-face, hybrid, and online options.
